The Transitional Year Residency Program at Ocean University Medical Center is ACGME accredited and aims to prepare residents for specialty residency training. Program Overview

The Transitional Year Residency Program accepts 12 residents annually and participates in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). It provides a structured curriculum that includes various elective options, allowing residents to tailor their educational experience. Some elective options include Allergy/Immunology, Anesthesia, Cardiology, Critical Care, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, and Psychiatry, among others.

The PGY1 salary is competitive at $73,619.97, along with four weeks of vacation per year. Additional benefits encompass comprehensive medical, dental, and life insurance, 24/7 computer access, disability coverage, family leave, and wellness programs.

Application Process

Applications for the Transitional Year Residency Program must be submitted electronically through the ERAS system. Prospective applicants should have completed and passed Step 1 and 2 of the USMLE or COMLEX to be considered for an interview. The application must include essential documents such as a medical school transcript, a CV, a copy of the medical school diploma (if graduated), three letters of recommendation, and copies of USMLE/COMLEX scores. It is preferable that candidates graduated within the last three years and have passed Step 1 and Step 2 on the first attempt.
