Piedmont Macon Medical Center Program

The Piedmont Macon Emergency Medicine Residency Program in Macon, Georgia, aims to provide a strong clinical foundation, foster community and professionalism, and develop future academic and community leaders. The program operates within the 310-bed Piedmont Macon Medical Center, which houses a sepsis certified Emergency Department and is designated as an advanced primary stroke center. Additionally, the medical center offers specialty services, including an advanced cardiac center and a dedicated cancer center.

The faculty at Piedmont Macon's Emergency Medicine program specialize in various subspecialties, such as point of care ultrasound, environmental and toxicological emergencies, simulation medicine, international medicine, and health disparities. Through a 3-year residency program focusing on community medicine, residents gain experience with patients of varying acuity levels. The residency program employs a 2:1 resident-to-attending Pod system to enhance formal and informal teaching opportunities.

Affiliated with Mercer University School of Medicine (MUSM), residents and faculty at Piedmont Macon have access to library resources and support.
