Didactics

Didactics occur every Thursday and include both protected lecture time and case-based discussions that focus on practical topics vital for future psychiatrist practice. These include safety conferences and journal clubs, fostering an understanding of healthcare disparities and ongoing transdisciplinary dialogue among trainees.

Clinical Rotations

The clinical rotations are divided into years:

• PGY1: 4 blocks in primary care, 6 blocks in inpatient psychiatry, along with outpatient neurology and inpatient neurology.
• PGY2: Including consult-liaison, geriatric psychiatry, and emergency psychiatry rotations.
• PGY3: Concentrates on outpatient psychiatry.
• PGY4: Focuses on administrative, clinical chief roles, and electives.

The Psychiatry Residency Program is considered competitive, but it is open to IMG and DO applicants. Individuals are encouraged to present strong USMLE scores, with a preference for first-attempt passes.

Call Schedule

The call schedule for residents in psychiatry is designed to gradually increase responsibility:

• PGY1: One weekday call and one weekend per month.
• PGY2: One weeknight call and one weekend per month.
• PGY3: One Saturday call per month.
• PGY4: No call responsibilities.
