Lehigh Valley Health Network Program

The dermatology residency program at Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) offers a comprehensive three-year training that equips residents with broad experience across various aspects of dermatology, which includes medical dermatology, dermatologic surgery, dermatopathology, cutaneous oncology (including Mohs surgery), inpatient dermatology, pediatric dermatology, and cosmetic dermatology. The program also incorporates teledermatology and various dermatologic therapies such as biologics, immunosuppressants, light therapy, and lasers.

As a resident, you will have exposure to a diverse patient population and a wide range of conditions within both inpatient and outpatient settings. LVHN is recognized for hosting Pennsylvania’s largest and busiest burn unit, providing unique learning experiences that are not available at other regional centers. Major training locations, such as Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH)–Cedar Crest and Lehigh Valley Reilly Children's Hospital, are equipped with multiple resident workspaces, reliable support, and various amenities including convenient dining options.

Curriculum and Rotations

During PGY2, PGY3, and PGY4 years, residents participate in grand rounds, journal clubs, and required didactic sessions. Competitiveness and Application Requirements

The program is competitive, as it accepts only two residents annually. Applicants typically need to have completed an ACGME- or AOA-accredited internal medicine residency and must pass USMLE/COMLEX Steps I, II, and III. Special attention is paid to the applicant's academic performance, and the program does not offer observerships or externships.

Visa Support

Lehigh Valley Health Network provides visa support for international medical graduates (IMGs) who meet the program's acceptance criteria. The program typically sponsors J-1 visas, which are commonly used for residents in U.S. training programs.
