The Pediatrics Residency Program at the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine aims to provide a strong educational foundation for residents to become competent general pediatricians capable of helping the underserved and improving overall community health. Residents receive comprehensive medical education, opportunities for research and scholarship, advocacy experiences, and the chance to practice in underserved areas.

Application requirements include graduation from an LCME-accredited or AAO-accredited school, dean's letter, medical school transcript, photo, three letters of recommendation, personal statement, USMLE or COMLEX transcript, and the ability to be licensed in South Dakota with passage of all exam components within a specified time span. They support J-1 and H-1B visas.
