University of South Florida Morsani Program

The University of South Florida Morsani Program offers an ACGME-accredited residency training program in Pathology and Cell Biology, focusing on Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. The program aims to produce competent, board-certified pathologists with excellent diagnostic knowledge and skills, while also providing education in research principles and fostering values of professionalism and life-long learning.

The four-year residency training program provides exposure to various case types, patients, research, and teaching opportunities through affiliations with major Tampa hospitals and other institutions. The facilities ensure ample study and research opportunities, reasonable call policies, and suitable faculty-to-trainee ratios. Areas of training include Surgical Pathology, Cytology, Hematopathology, Dermatopathology, and more.

Application requirements for prospective residents include submitting documents through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service), such as a completed application form, medical school dean's letter, personal statement, transcripts, USMLE scores, letters of recommendation, and a Curriculum Vitae. The program accepts J1 visas but does not sponsor H1-B visas, requiring appropriate Visa status and fluency in English. Foreign medical graduates must be ECFMG certified to apply.

The program supports up to three PGY-1 positions each year, with a total of 14 residents in training. Fellowship opportunities in various specialties of pathology, such as Cytopathology, Surgical Pathology, and Hematopathology, are available through affiliated institutions like Moffitt Cancer Center. Residents have the opportunity to explore different practice settings and engage in elective rotations to shape their career paths.
