The West Virginia University Pediatric Residency Program is located at the WVU Children's Hospital within the Ruby Memorial Hospital campus in Morgantown. Led by Dr. Charles J. Mullett and Dr. Joseph D. Lynch, the program offers a comprehensive training experience in a diverse and inclusive environment.

The program accepts up to 6 PGY-1 positions annually. Applicants must apply through ERAS by December 1st and register for the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). Application requirements include complete ERAS application, USMLE or COMLEX scores, dean's letter, medical school transcript, CV, and three letters of recommendation.

International Medical Graduates need ECFMG certification, 6 months of clinical experience in the US, and graduation from medical school. The program sponsors J1 visas only.

Virtual interviews are conducted during the application cycle, and only invited candidates are interviewed from mid-October to mid-December.

The educational curriculum aligns with ACGME requirements, offering three career tracks: Generalist, Specialist, and Intensivist. Residents benefit from various rotations and participate in teaching conferences aimed at professional development.

The program supports the Pediatric Residency Rural Scholars Program aimed at training pediatricians for rural underserved areas. Participants receive enhanced rural health curriculum, stipends, and guaranteed residency positions.

Residents enjoy several benefits, including 15 days of vacation per year, free parking, a resident library, professional development fund, educational meetings reimbursement, health benefits, on-campus child care, and access to fitness facilities.

The WVU Pediatrics Residency Program aims to train competent pediatricians who can provide quality care to children and adolescents. The program encourages self-learning, leadership, and understanding of the healthcare system while offering opportunities for sub-specialty training and involvement in a state-of-the-art hospital facility.
