West Virginia University Program

The Urology Residency Training Program at West Virginia University is an ACGME-accredited five-year program that offers a comprehensive training experience in urology. The program accepts one resident per year and provides exposure to all aspects of Adult and Pediatric Urology. Notably, chief residents graduate with a substantial number of cases performed, and the pass rate on the American Board of Urology Examinations is 100%.

Training takes place at West Virginia University Hospitals, a Level I trauma center with a significant number of urological cases performed annually. The program emphasizes the development of excellent urologic surgeons with opportunities for both academic and private practice pathways. Residents gain experience in various urologic subspecialties such as andrology, oncology, pediatric urology, and minimally invasive surgery.

To apply, candidates must complete the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS), graduate from an accredited medical school, provide a certified transcript, personal statement, three letters of recommendation, dean's letter, and USMLE scores. USMLE Step 3 completion is required by the end of PGY-2. The program typically receives around 175 applications for two positions, with approximately 30 candidates invited for interviews.
