Wellstar Health System/Wellstar Kennestone Regional Medical Center Program

This Wellstar Kennestone Regional Medical Center Program offers a Primary Care Track in their Internal Medicine Residency program. Residents on this track will work in clinics in suburban Marietta, including in Resident Continuity Clinic and Wellstar Primary Care Clinic, focusing on outpatient care during the 2nd and 3rd years. The program aims to prepare residents for dynamic careers in primary care. There are varied rotations in different specialties like inpatient wards, ambulatory medicine, and emergency medicine.

Application to the program requires U.S. citizenship or a valid U.S. Permanent Resident Card. Graduates of specific U.S. or Canadian medical schools accredited by LCME, U.S. colleges of osteopathic medicine accredited by AOA, and certain international medical graduates meeting specific criteria are eligible to apply. Applicants must also qualify for a full or unrestricted education limited license in Georgia. Submission of required documentation through ERAS, including letters of recommendation, transcripts with USMLE or COMLEX scores, a curriculum vitae, dean's letter, and personal statement, is necessary for consideration.

The Wellstar program does not sponsor visas and encourages residents to pursue scholarly activities and publications. The Primary Care Track provides residents with opportunities to engage in clinics and community activities. Residents are mentored by experienced faculty to prepare them for the challenges of a career in primary care.
