Residents in the program will benefit from a well-organized didactics schedule, which comprises one half-day per week (5 hours) of protected learning time. This time includes a mix of attending lectures, case presentations, book clubs, journal clubs, and board review sessions. Moreover, residents are expected to participate in a monthly morbidity and mortality conference in addition to attending tumor boards. Daily morning reports and patient rounds with attending physicians are also integral parts of the inpatient medicine service experience.

The curriculum of the Transitional Year Residency at CMC is structured into four-week blocks and allows residents to engage in a variety of electives ranging from Anesthesiology, Behavioral Health, and Cardiology to more specialized fields such as Pathology, Radiology, and Wound Care. Residents will also experience monthly didactic sessions which include journal clubs, family medicine conferences, and grand rounds. Advanced Placement requirements apply for certain electives, which delineate the direct patient care and training expectations.
