The OhioHealth Doctors Hospital General Surgery Residency program is a five-year, ACGME-accredited program that accepts four residents per year. Residents have the opportunity to train at a level-1 trauma center, one of the busiest in the United States. The program offers exposure to a wide variety of surgical conditions and focuses on all general surgery areas. Residents have the chance to rotate at affiliated locations, including OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital, Nationwide Children's Hospital, and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
The program is structured to ensure residents assume progressive responsibility in patient care and develop expertise in surgical skills under the supervision of expert staff in a high operative volume setting. Residents also have support for scholarly activities and quality improvement projects. The curriculum aligns with the SCORE curriculum and guidelines from the American Osteopathic Association and the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons.
Residents are supported in their well-being with benefits such as three weeks of paid vacation, free fitness center membership, free parking, and employee assistance programs. The program aims to maintain a healthy work-life balance for its residents.
