The University of North Dakota (Minot) Family Medicine Residency Program is based in Minot, North Dakota. The program, which began in 1975, is affiliated with Trinity Medical Center, a regional hospital that offers a comprehensive range of services, including cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, and a Level II Trauma Center.

The residency program accepts six residents each year and prioritizes training residents to practice in various settings, with a particular emphasis on rural practice. The training facility moved to a new state-of-the-art clinic in 2005, where residents are exposed to a diverse patient population and a wide range of family medicine services, including maternity care, endoscopy, cardiac treadmill testing, colposcopy, vasectomy, and office-based procedures. The clinic is equipped with onsite lab and x-ray facilities for enhanced clinic efficiency and resident education.

The Minot program offers residents a dynamic learning environment with a faculty comprising six family physicians and a full-time psychologist. The program is fully equipped with the latest electronic and medical equipment to support resident education and training.

The Minot/Williston Rural Track Family Medicine Program, which is a new addition as of July 2014, is a collaboration between the University of North Dakota School of Medicine & Health Sciences, Trinity Hospital in Minot, and CHI St. Alexius Health-Williston Medical Center in Williston. This unique program is designed for medical students with strong leadership skills who are seeking intense training opportunities customized to their specific interests and needs. The experienced faculty members are dedicated to developing family physicians prepared to work effectively in rural settings.

The University of North Dakota (Minot) Program Rural Track Williston is approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
