The Surgery Residency at Hennepin Healthcare is a comprehensive 5-year categorical program designed to provide residents with a robust experience and hands-on education in general surgery. Hennepin Healthcare is recognized as a Level I Trauma Center, engaging residents in the management of severely injured patients and providing exposure to complex cases in both adult and pediatric trauma. The certified Burn Center further enhances the program's reputation for managing a wide spectrum of medical conditions.1

Application Requirements and Visa Support

Applicants must provide a fully completed ERAS application, including medical school transcripts, a dean's letter, a personal statement, and a minimum of three letters of recommendation, preferably from surgical faculty. International graduates are encouraged to apply; however, the program exclusively accepts residents holding a green card or those on a J1 visa. The ECFMG certification is mandatory to qualify for interviews.1
