The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine Family Medicine Residency Program aims to educate and develop family physicians who practice with consideration for the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit. The program, accredited by ACGME, aligns with the mission of LECOM to train physicians within the osteopathic tradition.

Residents at this program engage in providing comprehensive primary care in medically underserved areas of the community. The program emphasizes academic growth to attain ACGME competency milestones and secure board certification post-graduation. Residents are encouraged to engage in research, lifelong learning, and teaching experiences. Optional participation in master's degree programs such as Medical Education, Health Services Administration, Cannabinoid Medical Therapeutics, or Biomedical Ethics is also available.
