The Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Trinity Health Muskegon is a 4-year ACGME initial accreditation program that accepts new residents annually. The majority of the program experience takes place at the Trinity Health Muskegon, Hackley, and Grand Rapids campuses, with additional training in PICU & Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This program is strongly affiliated with Michigan State University's College of Osteopathic Medicine Statewide Campus System.
The program's goal is to produce clinically outstanding emergency physicians while molding professional, administrative, and academic leaders. Residents can expect exposure to a variety of pathology with over 100,000 ER visits per year. Emergency Medicine Residency applications are accepted through ERAS. Audition rotations are highly encouraged, and applications are accepted through VSAS under Trinity Health – Mercy Health Muskegon.
The curriculum spans four years with progressively advancing rotations and focuses on developing core medical knowledge, handling major trauma cases, refining life-saving procedures, improving patient flow, and promoting academic competency. Residents have the opportunity to explore their academic interests through elective rotations in their final year.
