The Virtua Program offers a comprehensive four-year Psychiatry residency program that exposes residents to a diverse range of clinical experiences, patient populations, and treatment settings across rural and urban centers. In the first year, residents go through rotations in Medicine, Psychiatry, and Neurology. The third year involves rotations in specialties like Child/Adolescent Inpatient care, ECT, Substance Abuse, and Geriatrics, along with elective rotations. Fourth-year residents gain extensive outpatient clinical experience and work in office-based and community mental health settings.
The program emphasizes continuous learning through structured didactic sessions, lectures, discussions, and case conferences. Residents are encouraged to attend and present at professional conferences. The curriculum focuses not only on psychopathology and treatments but also on practical life skills and career development.
