The Albany Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency Program is committed to providing exceptional care in a supportive environment. The program focuses on patient care, teamwork, and academic excellence. The faculty aims to create an academic environment that nurtures residents to become well-trained, thoughtful, and caring internists.

Residents receive a robust clinical experience with rotations at a 766-bed tertiary care facility, the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center, and various practices in the Capital Region. The curriculum is designed based on adult learning theory and uses active engagement and team-based learning. Additionally, the program offers simulation training for procedures, ultrasound curriculum, and quality improvement and research curriculums.

Albany Medical College supports J-1 visas and is looking for candidates who have completed a minimum of three months of clinical training in the U.S. or U.K., have not spent more than two years out of medical school, and are no more than two years out of graduation. Candidates must have the necessary paperwork and credentials to apply for the program through ERAS.

The program provides residents with ample resources and an opportunity to build a strong portfolio of clinical, research, and academic activities to support their career goals.
